LTSA Student Advocacy Service - Exam tips!
We hope your study and exams go well!
If you find yourself unexpectedly sick or impacted by an unforeseen circumstance during an exam and can't complete it or believe that the unexpected illness/circumstance had a significant impact on your exam performance, then you might be eligible for Special Consideration. Be sure to visit a medical professional on the day of the exam to get a completed medical impact statement.
If you have technical issues on the day of an online exam and can't complete the exam, or the tech issues impact you ability to complete it properly, then be sure to collect evidence of the tech issue as it is happening at the time (e.g. screenshots) and submit a Special Consideration on the day of the exam.
For unexpected illness leading up to an exam and including the day of the exam, check out the Assessment Adjustments website for instructions on how to apply. You'll be applying for a Special Consideration (not Replacement Exam Date).
Also be sure to know what you can and cannot take into an exam - you can access this information in the subject's LMS. If you are doing an online open book exam, make sure you not breaching your academic integrity responsibilities. While it may sound great to have access to textbooks, papers and the internet - you need to avoid copying and pasting text into your answer. And absolutely avoid using AI to answer your questions for you! We've seen so many students get caught doing this - using AI is like getting someone else to demonstrate your learning.. it is cheating, and we don't want that for you.
Best wishes to you all for exams - and, if you find yourself in a pickle and don't know what to do - send us an email or give us a call. We're here to help.
